Mardan teachers constantly strive to create rich and engaging learning experiences for all students. Many special projects are introduced throughout the year, specifically designed to foster a love of learning by allowing students an opportunity for creative expression and hands on learning.

These classroom projects are also a great way to help students develop team skills, interpersonal skills, and self regulating skills.

Students regularly present their projects to their classmates, to other classrooms, and to their families. We are excited to now share their creativity and hard work with you.

In October, the first and second graders learned all about pumpkins.  Their project focused on the life cycle and parts of plants. The children got to observe this first hand by cutting open a pumpkin, sprouting the seed, then planting the sprout.

Throughout this process, the boys created PowerPoint Presentations documenting the life cycle of a pumpkin and presented their projects to their classmates.  As a culmination activity, the class visited a local pumpkin patch and got to pick pumpkins.  It was a really fun unit…and the boys are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first pumpkin blossom!
